“I am honored to be part of a growing women's network that embraces education, empowerment, advocacy, and change on behalf of our sisters around the world. We are painters, sculptors, fiber artists, photographers, business women and educators with a passion to share not only our talents, but our story.” For full story copy/paste the link below for the National Museum of Women in the Arts: http://womeninthearts.wordpress.com/2010/01/06/jambo-tanzania-women-artists-in-northwest-ohio-and-tanzania-2/

July 2009 - After careful and considerate review, LaTreice V. Branson is selected as one of six applicants nominated for travel on the second delegation from northwest Ohio to Tanzania in July 2009 to conduct professional arts workshops, participate in an art exhibition, and conduct leadership workshops with the newly formed Women’s Art Network Leadership. Selected participants range in age from twenty-two to forty-six years and will present three categories of art media including painting, photography and sculpture. These six people are excellent candidates who will represent the goals of the project, deliver quality workshops, and will present in the best interests of this U.S. program. Additionally, these artists have all worked directly with the first Tanzanian delegation in Ohio on collaborative projects. These six candidates will enhance and compliment the work already accomplished by the first U.S. delegation to Tanzania. Additionally, the director of the Arts Council Lake Erie West and co-director of the ‘International Women’s Arts Exchanges with Tanzania’ grant program will accompany the delegation to provide leadership, assist in special arts administration and leadership aspects of the workshops identified by Tanzanian partners, interview potential Tanzanian candidates that will be selected to travel to the U.S., work with the U.S. Embassy, and provide oversight on the project to see that goals are met and with appropriate documentation. He traveled to Tanzania leading the first successful U.S. delegation in February 2009, and in 2006 on a four-week GLC ‘workforce development project’ presenting workshops in four cities and rural communities on grant writing, marketing, collaboration and co-operative building, and product development. The six participants include Anne Pletz, painter/photographer/sculptor artist from Toledo OH; Raja Aossey, painter from Toledo OH; Alecia Robinson, painter artist from Toledo OH; Ellen Przybylski, jeweler/sculptor/art educator from Swanton OH; LaTreice Branson, photographer/painter/art educator from Columbus OH; and, Shari Densel, sculptor/painter/art educator from Waterville OH. The following snapshots provide an overview of the artists, and the artists’ full information may be found on the project website: www.artistsoftanzania.org.
